PET FRIENDLY

We are a pet-friendly retreat. The following conditions govern stay of pets on the property:-

• Prior intimation is a must
• Pet should be social and must not disturb other guests through whining and barking
• Pet shall be on leash when outside the room. In case of any one getting bitten by the pet, issue shall be handled by pet owners and settlement arrived at before checking out
• Guests shall be liable to pay for any material or such like damage caused by the pet
• Picking up excreta and wiping the place clean shall be the responsibility of the pet owners
• Any special meal requirements shall have to be discussed/intimated prior to arrival of the guests
• Ground based bedding for the pets shall be provided @ Rs 200 per night
• In case the guests want to keep pet on the bed, own bed cover/sheet and blankets shall have to be brought by the guests or same shall be provided on sale/purchase basis. A double bedsheet shall cost INR 1000 and a double blanket shall be INR 2000 a piece. Guests would be expected to carry these items home
• In case guests move out during the day, pet shall be confined to the room in their absence
• For stay and travel purposes, a pet shall be considered equivalent to a child (03-12 years)

PREPARING FOR THE TRIP

Guests are advised to keep following season/weather-related trends in mind:-

• Early April to mid-July – Clear weather on most days; mist in the mornings/evenings on some days. Light jacket/windcheater shall serve well during mornings and evenings while days would be warm. Please bring sun protection cream since sun rays are pretty strong at this attitude.
• Mid-July to mid-October- Rainy; mist rises from the valley below and enters rooms. The road beyond Jhatingiri may/may not be motorable in which case, a 15 minutes' walk shall be required while we shall take care of your luggage. Carry rain jacket and good shoes
• Mid-October to end December – Cold with some snow, especially towards end of the year. Good woollens and accessories are a must.
• Early January to end March – Snowed out (generally 3 ft every alternate year) during January and February while March may see rains. Road condition doubtful and generally not motorable. Jackets and suitable shoes will help.

HOUSE RULES/ INFORMATION

• We respect nature and expect our guests to be considerate too. Please don't carry polythene and don't litter the place wherever you may be.
• No weapons and drugs allowed inside the property.
• No loud music after 10 PM.
• Every guest has the right to privacy and no disturbance.
• Meals will not be served in the rooms. In case of any pressing reason, manager may be contacted.
• Animals on the property are living beings and shall be treated well.
• At more than 7000 ft, we are technically close to High Altitude tag. Pl consult your doctor before booking with us.
• There is wild life in the jungles that you may be trekking through. Please be careful and move out only under guidance.
• Basic first aid kit is available with the manager and is to be made use of only in case of emergencies. You are expected to use your own routine medicines.
• Hygiene and sanitation items like sanitary napkins and handkerchiefs, socks and undergarments are available on extra payment.
• All the edible products being offered for sale are purely organic and have been prepared using local ingredients.
• Handicraft items on display have been procured locally and are being sold at No Profit/ No Loss basis.
• We use organic raw material in our kitchen.
• We don't charge for room heating between 01 November and 28/29 February. No fire-based heating allowed after 10 PM.
• No open fires in the rooms.
• Hot water bags shall be provided between 01 November and 28/29 February at no cost.
• While hiking or trekking, don't venture alone into the forest and especially away from trails. Wild life is one issue while physical accidents may happen at any time. Stay with the group and guides.
• While in Barot Valley, be careful while approaching Uhl river. Mountain rivers and rivulets are best appreciated from a distance.

ECOLOGY MANAGEMENT

We are conscious of the fact that the most intelligent species to walk on this Earth is busy destroying this very Earth both intentionally and unknowingly. We do our bit in the following ways:-

• Unless forced by unusual circumstances, we provide you drinking water in glass bottles. While we forego our profits by avoiding selling bottled water, we still encourage consumption of natural water over plastic bottle water.
• We aim to generate zero waste and have provided our washrooms with soap. Shampoo and handwash in dispensers rather than small hotel packings that generate waste post consumption.
• Water is a scarce resource here. We have installed water -harvesting systems and yet demand is always higher than the supply. Bedsheets and towels are, therefore, changed only of stay is more than three nights. We may be forced to regulate water supply into the rooms on certain days. On your part, you are requested to ensure minimum water wastage and also ensure that flush buttons are not left pressed by mistake.
• We have compost pit to take care of organic trash.
• Please take as much as you can eat; there is always a chance to refill the plate. We may impose penalties for food wastage.
• We don't generally burn wood. Bonfires, therefore, are payable. We try and use shrubs, leaves, dung, grass and smaller branches in our bonfires.
• Please use dustbins as provided all over the property.
• We use solar water heating system. If you are the first user of the day, you shall have to let at least half a bucket run before hot water starts flowing into the bucket. Use of buckets minimises water wastage.
